Managing Your Subscription
Mapalyze makes it straightforward to manage your subscription. Whether you need to upgrade, downgrade, change your payment method, or cancel, everything is handled from the billing settings in your dashboard. This article covers all the common subscription management tasks.
Accessing billing settings
- Log in to app.mapalyze.com.
- Click Settings in the left sidebar.
- Select Billing.
Only users with the Admin or Owner role can access billing settings.
Upgrading your plan
When your team grows or you need more features, upgrading is instant:
- Go to Settings then Billing.
- Click Change Plan.
- Select the plan you want to upgrade to.
- Review the price difference and confirm.
When you upgrade:
- Immediate access. All features of the new plan are available right away.
- Prorated billing. You are only charged the difference for the remainder of your current billing cycle. For example, if you upgrade from Starter to Professional halfway through the month, you pay half the difference for that month.
- No data interruption. Your forms, records, and team settings remain unchanged.
Downgrading your plan
If you need to reduce your plan:
- Go to Settings then Billing.
- Click Change Plan.
- Select the lower plan.
- Review any feature or capacity limitations that will apply.
- Confirm the change.
When you downgrade:
- Takes effect at renewal. You keep your current plan's features until the end of the billing period. The downgrade takes effect on the next billing date.
- Capacity limits. If your current usage exceeds the lower plan's limits (for example, more team members or forms than allowed), you will be prompted to reduce usage before the downgrade takes effect.
- Data is preserved. Your data is never deleted due to a plan change. However, some features (like conditional logic or scheduled exports) may become unavailable on lower plans.
Switching between monthly and annual billing
- Go to Settings then Billing.
- Click Billing Cycle.
- Choose Monthly or Annual.
Switching to annual billing applies a discount (equivalent to two free months per year). The annual rate is charged on your next billing date.
Switching from annual to monthly takes effect at the end of your current annual term.
Updating your payment method
- Go to Settings then Billing.
- Click Payment Method.
- Click Update next to your current card.
- Enter your new card details and click Save.
Mapalyze accepts all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express). Your payment information is securely processed and stored by our payment provider. Mapalyze never stores your full card number.
Adding a secondary payment method
For extra peace of mind, you can add a backup payment method:
- In the Payment Method section, click Add Card.
- Enter the backup card details.
- Your primary card is charged first. If it fails, the backup card is charged automatically.
Canceling your subscription
If you need to cancel:
- Go to Settings then Billing.
- Click Cancel Subscription.
- Select a reason for cancellation (optional but appreciated -- your feedback helps us improve).
- Confirm the cancellation.
When you cancel:
- Access until period ends. Your paid features remain active until the end of the current billing period.
- Data preserved for 90 days. After the subscription ends, your account reverts to the free Explorer plan. Data beyond Explorer limits is archived (not deleted) for 90 days.
- Reactivate anytime. If you resubscribe within the 90-day window, all your data and settings are restored immediately.
- After 90 days. Archived data is permanently deleted. We send reminder emails at 30, 60, and 80 days after cancellation.
Refund policy
Mapalyze offers a 30-day money-back guarantee for first-time subscribers. If you are not satisfied within your first 30 days on a paid plan, contact our support team for a full refund.
After the first 30 days, refunds are not available for partial billing periods, but you will not be charged after cancellation takes effect.
Common questions
What happens if my payment fails?
Mapalyze retries the charge after 3 days, then again after 7 days. You receive an email notification for each failed attempt. If payment is not resolved within 14 days, your account is downgraded to the Explorer plan.
Can I pause my subscription instead of canceling?
Currently, Mapalyze does not offer a pause option. If your work is seasonal, consider switching to monthly billing so you only pay during active months.
