Scout More Acres, Carry Less Gear
Crop scouts, soil samplers, and timber cruisers cover vast acreages where connectivity is a luxury, not a given. Mapalyze replaces the clipboard-GPS-camera juggling act with one mobile app that captures forms, geotagged photos, and field boundary polygons — offline by default, with full GIS export when you are back in range.
Agricultural inspectors cover 5x more acreage than a decade ago — with the same paperwork burden
What Large-Scale Crop Scouting Actually Looks Like
An agronomist is responsible for scouting 4,300 acres across 13 fields for a regional grain operation. The protocol requires walking transects through each field, recording pest and disease observations at georeferenced sample points, photographing symptomatic plants, mapping the boundaries of affected zones as polygons, and pulling soil samples at pre-determined GPS coordinates for lab analysis. It is mid-July, it is 97 degrees, and the nearest cell tower is on the other side of the county line.
With the current workflow, the agronomist carries a handheld GPS unit for waypoints, a phone for photos, a clipboard for observation notes, and a bag of labeled soil sample containers. Back at the office, the data reconciliation begins: waypoints exported from the GPS unit, photos sorted by timestamp and manually matched to field notes, polygon sketches re-digitized in GIS software, soil sample results cross-referenced against location codes. A single transposed waypoint or mislabeled photo can throw off an entire field recommendation.
Mapalyze puts all of that on one device.
How Mapalyze Solves It
Map Fields, Zones, and Sample Grids
Draw field boundary polygons, delineate pest-affected zones, and map soil sampling grids directly on-device with GPS precision. Each polygon is linked to its form record, carrying all attribute data — crop type, growth stage, observation notes — as a single exportable unit. Export boundaries as GeoJSON or Shapefile and load them into your farm management or GIS platform. Learn more about GIS geometry capture in Mapalyze.
Every Photo, Pinned and Linked
Photograph pest damage, disease symptoms, weed infestations, and soil conditions directly within the scouting record. Every image is automatically stamped with GPS coordinates and a timestamp. Batch upload handles dozens of field photos in the background while the scout walks to the next sample point. When the recommendation report goes out, every photo is still attached to the right observation — no sorting required.
Forms That Fit the Season
Build scouting templates with drop-downs for pest species, severity scales, growth stage selectors, and repeatable sections for multi-point sampling within a single field. Conditional logic surfaces relevant fields based on crop type or observation category. When protocols change between seasons, update the form template once — field crews get the latest version on their next sync.
Works Across Every Acre
Most agricultural land sits well outside reliable cellular coverage. Mapalyze stores everything on-device first. Scouts can work an entire day across a dozen fields without a signal. When the truck reaches a coverage zone or gets back to the office, everything syncs automatically in the background. No manual upload step, no lost records. The offline-first architecture treats connectivity as a bonus, not a requirement.
Built for Agriculture & Forestry
Polygon & Point Capture
Map field boundaries, affected zones, and sample points with GPS precision. Each geometry carries its full attribute data for seamless GIS export.
True Offline Mode
Built for rural acreages with zero coverage. Collect data all day without a signal. Everything syncs when you are back in range.
GeoJSON & Shapefile
Open GIS formats compatible with QGIS, ArcGIS, and farm management platforms. No enterprise upgrade required. Included on every plan.
Repeatable Sections
Document multiple sample points, pest observations, or timber plots within a single form submission. Keep related data together instead of creating dozens of separate records.
