Why We Built This
We kept hearing the same story from field teams: they'd spend a full day collecting data in the field, drive back to the office, and discover half of it didn't sync. Or the app crashed. Or the photos weren't linked to the right records. These teams are doing important work — inspecting pipelines, surveying habitats, documenting construction progress — and their tools were letting them down. We built Mapalyze because field data is too valuable to lose to a bad app.
What Frustrated Us
We looked at the existing tools and kept running into the same problems. "Offline mode" that crashed the moment you actually went offline. Per-device fees that punished teams for giving workers a backup tablet. GIS exports locked behind enterprise tiers that cost five times more. And proprietary formats that meant your own data was held hostage. It was obvious someone needed to build something better, so we did.
How We Think About Building
Offline-First by Design
Every record is saved to your device first. The server gets a copy when you're online. We didn't bolt on an "offline mode" — we built the whole app around the assumption that you won't have signal.
Open Data, Always
Your data exports to GeoJSON, CSV, and Shapefile on every plan — including the free one. We don't believe in locking your data behind paywalls. It's your data. You should be able to take it anywhere.
Honest Pricing
One price per user. Use it on your phone, tablet, and laptop — we don't charge per device. No surprise fees six months in. The price on our website is the price you actually pay.
Built for Mud and Rain, Not Conference Rooms
We design for the people using this in a ditch, on a hillside, or underground. The app works with gloves on. Forms are readable in direct sunlight. If it doesn't work in the field, it doesn't ship.

A small team of engineers who've spent years working alongside utility companies, environmental consultancies, and construction firms. We've ridden in the trucks, stood in the rain, and watched people struggle with tools that weren't built for their reality. That's what drives what we build.
